Ravical Secures €7.3M to Make Expert Firms AI-First

AI agents tailored for accounting, legal, HR, tax, and insurance sectors promise to automate 80% of professional services workflows.

Ghent, Belgium – 21 May 2025Ravical, the Ghent-based AI startup transforming how professional services firms operate, has raised €7.3 million in pre-seed funding to bring domain-trained AI agents to the world of accounting, tax, legal, insurance, and HR services. The round was led by Lakestar, with co-investment from Pitchdrive and Entourage, along with participation from experienced angel operators.

Founded by Joris Van Der Gucht, co-founder of Silverfin (acquired in 2023 for €320 million), Ravical provides AI-powered “virtual employees” that blend firm-specific knowledge, domain expertise, and client context to automate up to 80% of operational workflows, freeing professionals to focus on high-value, strategic work.

“We don't believe AI will replace expert firms – but we do think that 80 percent of the work in these firms lends itself to AI automation. We offer these firms agents which deliver high-quality digital services which respect their unique knowledge and culture.”
– Joris Van Der Gucht, CEO & Founder of Ravical

Solving Talent Bottlenecks and Unlocking Productisation

Ravical directly addresses two pressing challenges in the professional services industry: the shortage of skilled talent and the long-standing ambition to productise expertise.

Firms today struggle to attract and retain top talent, while repetitive work continues to consume valuable time and resources. Ravical’s AI agents help alleviate these pressures by delivering scalable, automated services built around each firm’s unique knowledge base.

“Productisation has proven a hard nut to crack for many professional services firms. Our solution can deliver this almost overnight through the automation of expert professional services. It unlocks the ability to focus the firm’s employees on higher value and strategic support, while offering new possibilities to grow revenue.”
– Joris Van Der Gucht, CEO & Founder of Ravical

Backed by Leaders in Tech, AI, and Venture

Ravical’s founding team combines deep professional services expertise with world-class AI talent. Alongside Van Der Gucht, the company is co-founded by Ken Bastiaensen, a seasoned AI engineer and founder, and Benjamin Vandermarliere, an AI product leader with a PhD in physics and AI research.

The €7.3M round brings together a powerful group of backers with relevant sector experience and a shared belief in the need for transformation in professional services.

“Agentic AI is moving from buzzword to board-level priority. Ravical’s team has already proven they can automate professional workflows at scale; we’re excited to support them as they bring that playbook to a much broader services market.”
– Enrico Mellis, Partner at Lakestar

What’s Next

Ravical has already completed 10 pilot projects across a variety of firm types and industries. With this new funding, the company will accelerate product development, expand its team, and support international growth.
