At Pitchdrive, we invest in founders building category-defining software for large, global markets, and from the moment we met the Happl team, we believed they had the vision and ambition to build exactly that. Now, two years later, Happl announces their $11 million Series A, led by Portage Ventures.
Founded by Ben Towers, Happl is building the global benefits operating system for multinational employers. Its platform helps companies manage benefits, compliance, insurance, and flexible employee spend across the world, replacing fragmented local processes with a single system designed for global teams.
Employee benefits remain one of the most operationally complex parts of running an international company. Every country brings its own rules, vendors, systems, and workflows, making it difficult for employers to create a consistent experience across markets.
Happl addresses that complexity with a platform that combines AI-powered automation, configurable rules infrastructure, and deep integrations with HRIS and payroll systems. Their approach is clearly resonating with both mid-market and enterprise customers, as they’re already supporting Moelis, Kainos, Hootsuite, and others, with operations across more than 160 countries.
This new funding will allow Happl to accelerate on two fronts: product development and international expansion.
The company plans to continue growing its presence in the UK and US, while deepening the platform’s capabilities across AI, automation, real-time workflows, and proactive compliance support. It is also expanding the self-serve layer of the product, giving global teams more control over how they run benefits across multiple markets. On top of that, Happl’s MCP server will connect benefits data to tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, making it easier for teams to retrieve information and generate reports inside the tools they already use.

When we first met Ben and the team in 2024, what stood out was the ambition behind Happl. This was never meant to be a narrow HR tool, but infrastructure for how modern companies manage global teams.
What convinced us even more was the team’s ability to execute in a category where operational depth and trust matter. Happl is solving a real problem for multinational employers, and the traction they’ve already achieved shows how strong that need is.
That combination of vision, execution, and market timing is exactly why we backed Happl early, and why we’re excited to continue supporting the team as they scale.
