Ghent, Belgium – July 3rd 2025 — NineID, the cybersecurity platform that helps companies verify and monitor third-party workers, has raised €3.5 million in fresh funding to accelerate its European rollout. The round was led by early-stage VC Pitchdrive, with returning investor Entourage and newcomer Aconterra joining in.
In an era of increasing supply chain complexity and workplace security threats, NineID offers a mission-critical solution: airtight identity verification and compliance for external contractors. With more than 87,000 users and over 2.4 million verifications processed, the Ghent-based startup is fast becoming Europe’s go-to contractor compliance tool.
A new layer of security for external workforces
Every year, large companies work with thousands of subcontractors—technicians, maintenance crews, service providers—many of whom access sensitive infrastructure. NineID’s platform allows companies to know exactly who is on-site and whether that person is authorized and compliant.
Through a secure online portal, contractors upload personal identification, safety certificates, and insurance documents. NineID’s AI engine verifies and validates this data in seconds. The result? Real-time visibility, reduced fraud risk, and full audit trails—all critical to today’s corporate security and regulatory landscape.
“External contractors are often a blind spot in cybersecurity,” says Roy Jeunen, CEO and co-founder of NineID. “Our platform closes that gap. We give companies the tools to verify identities, enforce compliance, and ensure only authorized individuals get access.”
A booming need for compliance tech
New EU regulations around chain liability and subcontractor accountability—set to take effect by 2026—are forcing companies to strengthen internal controls and documentation practices. NineID’s platform helps organizations meet these demands without the admin burden.
On average, processing one contractor’s paperwork manually takes 40 minutes. With NineID, it’s 20 seconds. The platform is already trusted by major multinationals like BASF, Alpro, and Pfizer to secure and streamline contractor workflows.
“Security, efficiency, and compliance are no longer nice-to-haves—they’re strategic priorities,” says Boris Bogaert, founder of Pitchdrive. “NineID delivers on all three. We’re proud to lead this round and support their expansion across Europe.”
Built for the future of secure work
Founded in 2020 by Roy Jeunen and Frederik Keysers, NineID grew from a pain point in high-risk industries like maritime and pharma: too much manual work, too much risk. Today, it’s a full-fledged cybersecurity and compliance platform built for enterprises that rely on external workforces.
With this latest funding, NineID plans to expand its team, deepen its AI capabilities, and grow its presence in new European markets. The startup raised €2.4 million in 2023 and now brings its total funding to €5.9 million.
“Our mission is clear,” says Frederik Keysers, co-founder. “We want to make external workforce access as secure and compliant as internal staff—without slowing anyone down. NineID gives companies confidence in who they’re letting in, every single time.”
