Pre-Seed Stage

Pre-seed investors are essential for helping your startup reach the Series A stage. Our goal within Pitchdrive is to take startups from (pre-)seed to seed to series A within 24 months.

At the pre-seed stage, your startup is still in its early development stages. You may have a prototype or a basic product, but you’re not yet generating revenue. This is when you need to focus on building a strong foundation for your business. To get to the Series A stage, you need to show traction – that is, evidence that your product is resonating with customers. You also need to have a solid team in place, with the skills necessary to take your business to the next level. In order to secure pre-seed funding, you need to have a clear vision and a well-defined roadmap for your business. You also need to be able to pitch your business in a clear and concise way.

Check this ultimate startup's guide on how to get pre-seed funding.

Seed Stage

Now that you have a solid product and built up your traction, it's time to start gearing up for your Series A. Start by creating a business plan and financial model. This will help you to clearly articulate your business strategy and attract investors. Secondly, build a great team. Investors will want to see that you have a team of talented and experienced people who are passionate about your product. With right people at your disposal, raise money wisely. Don't spend all your money on marketing and PR; use it to build a strong foundation for your company. In this process, identify the right investors who have experience with startups at your stage of development. Eventually, network, network and network. The more people you meet, the more opportunities you will have to raise money and find investors.

Series A Stage

Now that you've got a solid pre-seed round in the bank, it's time to start gearing up for your Series A. This is where you'll really start to ramp up your growth, so it's important to make sure you're prepared.

Here are a few things you can do to make the most of your Series A:

  1. Focus on growth. Make sure your products and services are scalable and can support fast growth.
  2. Connect with investors. Connect with potential investors and begin building relationships with them.
  3. Prepare a business plan. Make sure you have a solid business plan ready to present to investors.

What Investors Look for at Each Stage

At the pre-seed stage, investors are looking for a team that is passionate about their product and has a clear vision for the future. They also want to see a minimum viable product (MVP) that has the potential to be scaled.

At the seed stage, investors are looking for startups that have a clear understanding of their target market and are beginning to generate revenue. They want to see a solid business model with evidence of traction. What you need to do here is to look for people who share your vision and who have the skills and experience to help you turn your idea into a reality.

At the Series A stage, investors are looking for companies that have proven their business model and are beginning to scale. They want to see evidence of strong growth, a solid management team, and a clear path to profitability. So, you need to grow your team, your customer base, and your revenue. Focus on building systems and processes that will help you scale quickly and efficiently.

The above steps are just a framework to help you get started on the journey from pre-seed to Series A. Please keep in mind that every startup is different and will have different challenges and opportunities. The important thing is to always be learning and growing as a founder, and to never give up on your dreams.
